The Sun, the God of light, the winter solstice, the pagan festival in Rome of the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, the Roman Saturnalia, the Greek Triesperon and the Persian celebration of the birth of Mithras… all these lead us to a spiritual journey through the centuries, through ancient civilizations and pagan cults until we reach the day that the Sun conquered the darkness, the 25th of December, the day that Jesus Christ is said to have been born. What are we celebrating on this day? Why all this light? What is it about that day that makes it so magical? We will tell the story of light and darkness in terms of mythology, astronomy, religion, faith and love and searching their role in our understanding of the universe.
